This incredible desk / table lamp is not only a fully functional lamp but also a stunning unique piece of art.

I am a massive fan of aviation in all of its forms and I especially love the old radial engined planes. I have wanted to build a lamp to simulate a radial engine for a while. I was lucky enough to find a half scale prop a few weeks ago and that was all the inspiration I needed to start this build.

I needed to fabricate a prop hub to start the build. I had a left over CO2 cylinder from my old welder that was almost the perfect size. 10 minute on the lathe made it perfect. I then welded an end cap on it so it could sit flush with the propeller. It has a 3/4bsp threaded brass pipe running through it and this is use to mount the hub to the stand and it also forms the shaft for the propeller.

The stand is fabricated from 3/4 BSP pipe fittings. All of the machined parts and the stand were professionally powder coated in satin black.

This lamp has five antique brass style light fittings. These were professionally wired with period correct braided 3 core vintage cable. The cable is a generous 1.5 metres long and it comes complete with an inline switch and plug.

This lamp is finished with five stunning 40w squirrel cage Edison filament incandescent radio valve light bulbs. These give a beautiful soft white light with the filament clearly visible when in use. They really do look like the cylinders on a radial engine when lit.

When lit the light looks stunning. The photos really don't do it any justice at all. This light is a must for any motorcycle fan. Perfect for the mancave or study.
