This is an early 20th century turned wooden handled lamp. This is an extremely rare lamp and features a spring loaded clip so it can be attached to a shelf or other fixture. As it was originally designed for cars so it only opens to about 20mm so bear this in mind. It does have a leather strap as well so it can be hung from the strap.

When we received the lamp it was completely unrecognisable compared to how it is now. The entire lamp was painted in household red gloss paint. 

The first job was to painstakingly remove all of the old paint. When we did this on the handle it revealed a lovely grainy oak. We gave the handle 3 coats of Fides antique oak wax and a gentle polish. It looks great !!. The original strap was intact but dry so we rejuvenated it with leather restorer and replaced the mounting pins. 

All of the metalwork was sand blasted to remove the paint and then lightly polished. The lamp has a lovely brass screws to secure the cage to the wooden handle. The cage is a very naive construction with soldered joints, It looks very cool. There are a number of twists and kinks in the cage which we didn't try to restore as it looks fantastic and age worn and we didn't want to spoil it. After all its probably 80 years old !! After polishing the cage it was clear coated with a clear lacquer.

The light was then professionally rewired with period correct braided cable and fitted with an inline switch. The lamp has a generous 1.5mtr power cable. The lamp has been fully PAT tested.

The light comes with a 60w E27 Vintage Edison incandescent filament bulb. This style of lamp is excellent when used to light a corner of a room or a piece of art. Vintage inspection lamps are always popular as they can be used virtually anywhere in the home or Garage. 

When lit the light looks stunning as it casts the most amazing shadows. The photos really don't do it any justice at all.

This is not just beautiful light but a great piece of early 20th century art that is guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come!
