The starting piece for this lamp was a very rare Tilley R1 paraffin Heater. The brass on the tank has been lovingly polished over the years, . To prevent the need for further polishing we sealed in with 3 coats of clear lacquer. There are some dents in the fuel tank but these just add to the character. The tilley logo is clearly visible on the rim of the tank.

The rear bowl is copper which had the most amazing patina when we found it, so rather than restore it we had it clear powder coated . It now looks magnificent, The patina shows through and it has a finish now that will last for another 70 years !!. It does have a number of bumps and twists in it as you can see on the pictures, but again these just show the journey this lovely item has been on.

The handle at the rear was in poor condition when we acquired it so we sand blasted it back to bare metal and then had it professionally powder coated in satin black.

The centre of the heater has been adapted by us to accept an antique style light fitting which has been powder coated in satin black to match the rest of the lamp . This was professionally wired with period correct braided 3 core vintage cable. The cable is a generous 1.2 metres long and is fitted with a 3 pin fused plug and inline switch. The lamp is fully earthed for electrical safety and it has been PAT tested.

To put the finishing touches to the light we have used a smoked E27 screw fitting large Edison spiral filament globe bulb (included). This gives a beautiful soft white light and the filament is clearly visible when its turned on.

When lit the light looks amazing, casting great shadows on the rear copper dome. The photos really don't do it any justice at all.

The light is very versatile and can either be used on a side table or it can be hung from its carrying handle.

This is not just beautiful light but a great piece of art that is guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come!
