This incredible desk / table lamp is not only a fully functional lamp but also a stunning piece of art.

The starting piece for this lamp was a vintage GEC Holophane glass street lamp. It was heavily oxidised and looking a bit sorry for itself.  The lamp was stripped and then the aluminium parts were shot blasted. These were then lightly polished to give a brushed aluminium finish. To maintain that finsh all of the metal work was clear lacquered.

This lamp originally had a mercury vapour bulb in it which wasn't suitable for home use. We removed that bulb and bulb holder and fabricated a new bulb holder so we could use an E27 Bulb.

A lamp as nice as this needed a really nice base, so we married it to a piece of 2 inch thick  solid mahogany. (No old bits of scaffold board here) The mahogany came from a 1920's boiler room and it previously had pressure gauges mounted on it !

We have re-wired the light with black vintage style braided cable and fitted an inline switch. The lamp has a generous 1.5mtr power cable.

The light comes with an Edison filament Energy Saving Bulb. This gives a beautiful white light as it shines through the fantastic glass Holophane shade.

When lit the light looks stunning as it casts the most amazing shadows. The photos really don't do it any justice at all.

This is not just beautiful light but a great piece of art that is guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come!

The lamp has been PAT tested and is fully earthed for electrical safety.

This lamp has the following approx dimensions:

Height - 42 cm
Width - 24 cm
Length - 24cm

We make products that are as unique as you, so if you don't see a light that you like then let us make something just for you. We are happy to work on commissions both large and small.
