The starting piece for this lamp was a very rare German 1940s Tecalemit DR10N Military Blow Torch. These now rare blow torches were issued to the Wehrmacht and in particular the Panzer divisions. They were mainly used for pre-heating tank and half track engines in the extremely cold weather. There was a metal plate and a hole into the engine compartment for them to sit on and heat the motor. They were also used as blow torches to unfreeze the tank and halftrack tracks. .Soldiers also used these in the field as well from Russia, to Africa to Normandy! These were used from approx 1939-1945.

Unlike pre and post war blow torches the main body of these was made from steel instead of brass. This was because brass was in short supply as it was used for shell casings.

The blow torch had about 3 different costs of paint on out when we found it (Blue, yellow and green lol) so we decided on a full restoration. To do this the torch was sandblasted back to bare metal. It was then powder coated in matt black and the Benzin decals applied. Tecalemit DR10N is imprinted into the handle and its still nice and visible. The brass burner was hand polished and clear coated.

The end of the blow torch was then adapted to accept an antique style light fitting which was powder coated in matt black to match the tank. The light fitting was professionally wired with period correct braided black 3 core vintage cable. The cable is a generous 1.5 metres long and is fitted with an inline switch and 3 pin fused plug. The lamp has been PAT tested for electric safety.

To put the finishing touches to the light we have used a smoked E27 screw fitting Edison cage style Light Bulb (included). This gives a beautiful white light

When lit the light looks like a 1950's science fiction ray gun. It's truly spectacular and the photos really don't do it any justice at all. The handle even has storage for spare parts..

This is not just beautiful light but a great piece of art that is guaranteed to be a conversation piece for years to come!
